Transurban e-Tags operate in the 9cm Amateur Band

The device being referred to here is an in-car mounted identification tag that effectively transmits an identification signal when passing through a detector on a new privately owned freeway in Melbourne.

Thanks for your note. Our operations team supplied the following information with regards to your query:
 
Frequency of tolling equipment: in the 5.8 GHz region
RF power: max +33dBm from fixed transmitter. The e-TAGs reflect transmitted carrier, and are not stand alone transmitters.
Modulation: AM from fixed transmitters; DPSK from e-TAGs.

The specifications for this device appear in part 26 of the LIPD schedule. These transmitters operate between 5.795 and 5.815GHz with an EIRP of 2WATTS!!!!!
