Threats from Two Sides - from VK1 News 11/4/99
Another great discussion object are the various LIPD devices encroaching
on the 70 cm band. This seems to be a real problem in some
circumstances, especially when LIPD devices are used to control possibly
hazardous devices like cranes. And there the ACA should be in for
deserved criticism. Security MUST NOT be compromised by allocating
frequencies for such devices in bands that are used by comparatively
highly powered military and amateur transmitters!
There is also the possibility of interference to military and amateur
receivers caused by the LIPD devices, whose operators probably do not
even know, which frequency they are transmitting on! And in the case
of the military this can compromise national security! Many incoming
interference reports show, that the ACA has severely underestimated
the range of the LIPD transmitters in the 70 cm band
