Muggings, rape, drugs and misbehaviour feature in the headlines of the media. Perth is no different to any other city in this respect.
What we don't often see is the enormous amount of work that goes on behind the scene to keep the "peace of the city".
The urban mission task is not only about evangelism or social reconstruction. It is about reaching the entire secular society. It is nothing less than bringing the service of the full gospel to a city!
This means Christians penetrating urban and suburban structures to bring the full effect of the gospel into the public as a testimony to Jesus Christ. Is it possible? It is helping Christians do their everyday tasks empowered with Christ - filled service.
About us
Urban mission takes many forms, but here in Perth it is applied as a series of projects. At the moment we believe this is the best way of confronting a secular city. Perth is not unlike any other Western city. It is managed relatively well, but has its crime problems. Drugs are the worst with alcohol the most common. With all the transport lines converging on the city and its nightspot of “Northbridge” there is a fair number of incidents, particularly over weekends.
