Athletes from Japan, France and across Australia are among almost 70 surf sport athletes who have registered to date to battle it out in the 2006 Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain IronMan and IronWoman Trial taking place at Burleigh Heads on Saturday 7 January 2006. With eight of last year’s athletes already pre-qualified for the IronMan, there are 12 places up for grabs at the selection trials for athletes looking for a place in the Nutri-Grain IronMan and a potential share in the $250,000 prize pool or the $50,000 winner’s prize. Those who have already qualified for the Nutri-Grain IronMan Sydney’s Coogee Beach on January 28 and 29 include current champion Zane Holmes, Tim Peach, Jeremy Cotter, Luke Richmond, Josh Blair, Nathan Smith and Shannon Eckstein. The event will be one big weekend of competition with one chance for one athlete to be the best. Elimination rounds will be held on Saturday 28 and finals will be held on Sunday 29 January. The finals will be telecast live on Sunday on the Seven Network from 1.30pm. |
