2009 Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ironman and Ironwoman Series

Wildcard spots in the male ranks has been granted to Ironman veteran Dean Mercer (who was absent from last weekend’s Trial due to injury) and WA Ironman champion Brendan Sarson who had sustained a foot injury weeks out from the Trial. Both Mercer and Sarson’s spots are subject to racing competitively in at least one Ironman event prior to 11 January 2009, where selectors will then review their admission. The 2009 Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ironman and Ironwoman Series will be televised on the Seven Network.

2008/2009 Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ironman Series Trial Round
29-30 November 2008 Wanda Beach, NSW

The 2008/2009 Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ironman Series Trial Round will be held on the 29th and 30th of November 2008 at Wanda Beach, NSW. This event is open to all current proficient members of a Surf Life Saving Club, who are Bronze Medallion holders, and are at least 16 years of age (due to ski events). This event determines the remaining competitor places for the 2008/2009 Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ironman Series.

There will be at least 10 male and 10 female positions in the 2008/2009 Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ironman Series that will be filled using results at this event, with a further two (2) males and females selected as wildcards following the Trial Round. The Trial Round will be held at Wanda Beach in conjunction with Round 2 of the NSW Surf Premiership.

Athletes that have already qualified for this Series from their placings in the 2007/2008 Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ironman Series and the Australian Championships include:
