Replica Boxes

As a result of trying to fix some scrappy boxes that I got with some of my models I have created a number of replica boxes. If you have any interest in these, or perhaps need someone to 'fix' a box for you have a look at these. Since I created my first reproductions, the amount of interest in these boxes led me on to establish another website dedicated to the art of reproduction. I do have more original boxes available as 'source' files, and may have the one that you require.

The boxes are 'For Sale' and vary in price depending on the size. The ones displayed here are all Matchbox 1-75 but I also have Dinky, Corgi, and some larger Matchbox items available.

These are not photocopies. I have spent, in each case, several hours working through the scanned image to remove blemishes, creases and the fold marks from the box edges. In some cases the original box is missing some parts ie the end flaps, and through the image processing these have been replaced.

The boxes are not made to seduce the unwary into seeing a 'mint-in-box' model for sale, and in order to make it obvious have a disclaimer embedded into the inside end flap.

These boxes are made to help enhance the collection and display of models for those of us who cannot spend squillion$ on lots on boxed models.

Matchbox #13 Dodge Wrecker Truck box in BP Livery

If you have a grotty box and its not in my list I would be interested in borrowing it to make a 'fixed' replica.

The replica boxes are all produced on bleached white card stock which means that the 'edges' are clearly distinguished from an original on the grainy yellow unbleached stock.

Matchbox #21 Foden Cement Truck box

Left: The Foden cement truck box is one that I did not have and borrowed to create a replica.

As a result of the scanning and digital clean-up the box on display in my collection looks like a new one.

Above: The BP Wrecker truck box above is a replica of a good one that I have already but since I had a second model in good condition I decided to make a second box.

Right: The Austin Cambridge had a rough box with it and while it is intact it has a lot of creases and scuff marks. As a result of the digital work the bulk of the original colour and 'newness' has been returned.

The image of the box, as with most of the pictures here, are a bit 'grainy', which is as much a factor of the digital camera, my lack of stability (must use my tripod in future) and the reduction in quality of the .jpg in order to keep the download time to a reasonable time.

Matchbox #37 Coca-Cola Lorry box
Left: The Coke Lorry #37 is used for both the 'even' & 'uneven' load models. This box was missing an end flap.
The accessory pack #3 Garage has been one of my favourite models for display with cars along side, beside, or even inside! It was one of the first 'in box' models I bought and sparked an interest in all the accessory pack models. This replica box took quite some time to fix as the main image with the brickwork does not translate well in the scanning process. However in the end I think its a very good replica and it does compliment the model in a display.
