Our Clients
Our target age group is 8 years to 16 years for participants and 17 years and onwards for our volunteers. We provide Camps and Activity days in each of the school holidays.
Co-Ed Camps for children aged 8-12 years
Co-Ed camps are held in mid January annually. Camp activities include swimming, team games, craft, sports, cooking, walking and camping overnight (one night only). There are approximately 25-30 places available for children on each camp, and the same number for leaders on each Co-Ed camp.
Boys Camp for boys aged 13-16 years
The Boys Camp is held in April annually. The camp is based on challenge, self-development and teamwork. Camps are held at various venues, depending on availability and suitability, with new campsites continuously being explored. There are approximately 15-20 places available for boys and an equal number for leaders.
Girls Camp for girls aged 13-16 years
The girls’ camp is held in September/October annually. The camp is based on challenge, self-development and teamwork. Camps are held at various venues, depending on availability and suitability, with new campsites continuously being explored. There are approximately 15-20 places available for girls and an equal number for leaders.
Family Camp for families of Edmund Rice Camps (SA) Inc
Family Camp is held in July annually. The camp enables the family unit to holiday together as well as allow parents to attend workshops such as resolving family conflict, drug and alcohol education and service descriptions while their children participate in activities such as swimming, craft, bush walking and sports.
Activity Days
Activity Days are held for all client groups individually at various times throughout the year, when a camp is not being run for that particular group. Activity Days range from in-house craft days to excursions to the movies, zoo, rock climbing etc. Activity Days are also held for families.
Making a referral
Children, young people and families that are supported by Edmund Rice Camps experience ‘disadvantage’ for a number of reasons, some examples include
- Low socio-economic background
- Academic / social difficulties at school
- Family breakdown
- Learning difficulty / intellectual disability
- Have challenging behaviours
- Difficulty in initiating and maintaining relationships
- Live in foster care
- Places are limited on all camps and activity days and priority of referrals will be taken on an individual needs basis.
