The Author

Brad Collis is a Melbourne-based writer and photo-journalist. 'SNOWY - The Making of Modern Australia' was his first book, commissioned in 1988 by Hodder & Stoughton

He was born in Perth, Western Australia in 1955 and grew up in Albany on the far south coast. Brad has worked and lived in many parts of the world, including The Netherlands, Slovenia, Kenya, The Phillipines, South Pacific, South East Asia, and the former USSR.

In December 1993, Hodder & Stoughton published his first novel, "The Soul Stone".

In 2002 his history of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), 'Fields of Discovery' was published by Allen & Unwin. It was rated by The Bulletin magazine as its "read of the year".

A second novel, The Memory Assassin, set in the Balkans at the close of World War II, is nearing completion.
