Congratulations !!

You have discovered the last page of my Website

As time goes by I will probably update and even add more content....

The Background Story about my space on the World Wide Web.

Once upon a time.....

I first started to play around with the idea of a personal Website in early 1999 mostly out of curiosity in wanting to know how they are put together, but also because I had friends asking about my snakes and wanting to see photos of them as well as myself quite a bit.

It all started one day when I was home having a couple of days off work after loosing my voice when I decided to make a start of what was to be just a couple of pages with a few photos thrown in for good measure.
I very quickly got carried away with it all and poured quite a lot of content into the site about myself and the world around me in Brisbane, Australia and the creatures that share my life, including 2 carpet pythons and a cat.
It started out as an exersize to see how these Websites worked and it ended up with a huge site about all sorts of things with links to many interesting and informative places as well as heaps of photos of my travels, my pets as well as some of me and my family.
I put a lot of work into navigation as I learnt more so that it was very easy to find your way around the huge site which I hope most visitors find interesting and humourous.

The day that I started on construction, I had no idea how to build one of these things, where to start or even what I was going to put into it !!
I started my adventure by using a program called Adobe Pagemill 3.0, which the guy in the store had assured me that even a 'computer gumby' like I had described myself could put together a website with this. He was right, and soon a few pages had started to take shape, followed by a few more and I was on the way.
I was starting to enjoy this creation but was getting a little frustrated about how to make it more alive, experimenting then with Microsoft Frontpage which was great, but both programs seemed to be taking over what I was trying to do and did not like the way that I wanted them to sit and kept making unwelcome changes to what I was trying to build.
By this stage I had started to read up about the HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) in the background as I was more curious now about how the language in behind the page made it all work, and a lot of the scribblings that I was slowly putting together were not always accepted by the programs, so I started to use plain old Notepad to write and edit more and more of the site (copy and Paste is a wonderful thing to help make it easier).
I think that you maybe have to be a little insane to do it this way, but I was getting the pages to perform the way that I wanted them to (on my own computer at least) and I had more satisfaction as I knew how much effort that was required to build things this way, and I was understanding how it all worked a lot better ( I would suggest the use of a web building program to anybody else ).

I am still tinkering around with bits of the site and have yet to complete the photo galleries, and other informative pages are being put together about a few types of snakes which I hope will be added soon and will have their own menu in the Snakes page.

If you got this far you will probably appreciate that I have spent far too much time staring at my computer screen ( affectionately ? called 'Trixie' because she is always playing tricks on me that I don't understand ), but I do remember to go outside into the real world regularly.

Using a program to build and edit your website is a much better and easier way to go and makes a lot more sense, but then again.....
" I did it mmmyyyyyyyyyyyyy way !!!!!!! "

June 2008.
I started to think about some of the ideas that have been spinning around in my head about my website and decided that as it was quite a few years since I built the site, it was time to replace the old site and bring it up to date, so construction began using technology to make life a little (a lot really) easier and do it a heck of a lot faster.

I bit the bullet and decided to build my new creation using a couple of programs, Macromedia Fireworks for the graphics, and Macromedia Dreamweaver for the pages.

The result is what you have now been scrolling your way through and hopefully enjoying your tour.... it has been quite an adventure in construction, but now I think that it is time to head outside again into the real world and enjoy the sunshine.

Before you leave I would love you to sign my Guest Book or send me an E-Mail.

Namaste.

.....and the ending ?????
