The Skybreaker prefix was established in 2002, however our association with the Stafford and purebred dogs has covered virtually a life time for both Stuart and myself.

Stuart has owned Staffords for most of his life as family pets - a love shared by his whole family which also extends overseas with his uncle previously breeding and exhibiting the breed in the UK.

I myself was brought up with Afghan Hounds which my parents have bred and exhibited under the prefix Japhia for almost 35 years. As well as the Afghan Hounds I have also been involved with Alaskan Malamutes and GSDs.

With our admiration and passion for the stafford we decided to combine our knowledge and start for ourselves a kennel upon which we could build. From this idea the prefix Skybreaker was born.

Every good kennel needs a good starting point and with this in mind we started searching for our ideal foundation bitch.
With the help of some good friends (Donna - Kimbastaff and Lynn - Powerpaws) we managed to eventually find such a bitch in Stoneheart Snow Gypsy. This bitch was the combination of type and soundness we were looking for.

As a foundation bitch, Griz (Stoneheart Snow Gypsy) has been everything we could have wished for. A show pony in the ring Griz's qualities have been recognized by All Breeds judges and Specialist judges alike - her claim to fame being the winner of the 2005 SBTCV Brains and Beauty Perpetual Trophy (awarded to the dog which combines the highest passing obedience score and highest class place at the SBTCV Ch Show and Obedience Trial).

However Grizs greatest achievement has been as a mother. From the 2 Skybreaker litters born her kids have gone on to win Australian Flyball Champion Titles, Multi CC's, Class In Groups, Class in Specialty Shows and Exhibit (as well as runner up exhibit) in Comp awards.

Griz has now retired from the show ring (except for the odd appearance) to make way for her kids who are doing extremely well for themselves. You can view their pages from the links above.

More important than being show dogs - our dogs are our loved family members who we are blessed to share our home and life with. We wouldn't be without them.

Stuart and I have both been involved with various club committees over the years. At the present I currently serve on the committee for our state breed club - the SBTCV and have done for over 4 years now as well as various all breeds committees. We are huge supporters of obedience training and recommend it to all stafford owners - especially those new to the breed.

Health testing is also an integral part of our breeding program and no Stafford is used as a part of our
breeding program without it.

We are always happy to answer queries whether they be about our own dogs or our breed in general, so please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have. We hope you enjoy our website.

Cheers,

Penni and Stuart
