Train returning from the West Coast derailed last 7 wagons between the 25.5 and 25km on Saturday afternoon, 18th June 2005. Not sure if the train was from Melba or Primrose, most likely Primrose. Train later continued on with the front portion, leaving 8 wagons behind. (wagons are permanently coupled in pairs). We went to the derailment site Sunday afternoon, where work was in progress, with the front 4 wagons on the track and coupled to the locos which had returned to the scene.

Looking south again, track has been repaired from the Tena rd crossing (further south) up to where the workers are standing.

Another general view, local farmer, owner of the adjacent property, surveys the damage. I guess he will score some new fencing later.
