The model shown above is a joint production between F.J. Roebuck and Lines Brothers. Roebuck did the woodwork for their Cyclops range of Scooters and other ride-on toys here in Australia. The leather harness pattern is the same as used on the 1952 Roebuck Colt horse that was mounted on a curved rocker base. Bartlett of Melbourne also produced a similar model Pedal Pony. |

The 1905 pattern Walker/Trainer on the right, was a popular training aid. Strong enough for a child to ride on before it graduated to the handle at the rear. Wheels were of cast iron and the handle was removable to convert it to a ‘pull-along’ horse for a boy. A doll or Teddy bear could be placed on its back, so girls could take their toy for a ride. Very popular with doll collectors to display their prize doll. |
