My name is Peter Duddy and I live in Melton, Victoria. When I'm not working, my interests are genealogy and computing. This site enables me to combine these interests with good results...I think???
I've
put in a picture of myself so you know what you're dealing with. Handsome devil
eh??.............Stop smirking.. this is serious!!!
I started by putting some of my genealogical info on the site so anybody who had internet access could look at the data and hopefully post me with info to complete the jigsaw. This is still the case, but it is now becoming a site that tries to tell the stories of the respective families in a more readable and complete way. By using text and pictures I hope to bring the stories to life.
As you would imagine this is a mammoth task and so the site is constantly under construction and I apologise for any links that don't work the way they should. Please let me know of any problems in navigation or of any errors in the data through the guestbook or email me.
I am researching the Staley/Evans and Duddy/Harrison families. As part of that project I'm also chasing up Evans, Simpson, Thatcher and Lomax.
The Staleys are my wife, Pauline's family. They epitomise the spirit of the early settlers to Australia, having arrived here in the 1840's and 1850's. Their story is the story of Australia from its Pioneer days. I've basically chased down the families of Pauline's parents viz, Staley and Evans (Pauline's mum's maiden name). Of course the further you go back the wider the tree becomes. This is where the computer and genealogy software come in. My hope is to have stories and pictures about all the people I know.
I
must acknowledge the work of Noel Staley (a cousin of Pauline), that's his cherubic
face at left back in 1939, who had done so much work in getting the data together.
He also did it without a computer.....I don't know how, but he did. Thanks Noel.
The Duddy family arrived here in the early 1950's and encapsulate the post war growth of Australia. Dad arrived here first in 1951 and Mum arrived some months later with my sister Mary who was about 3 at the time. Mum and Dad must have been pleased to see each other because I arrived soon after. Apart from my immediate family we have no relatives in Australia so my interest in genealogy has enabled me to record my relatives in Ireland, England and the USA. I often remember my parents talking about this relation or that and my sisters and brother looking at each other wondering who these people were. I feel I have a much better handle on the situation now
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Please feel to Email me
