Policy development and analysis

Good social research and program evaluation should contribute to evidence-based policy development. The key elements of evidence-based policy include:*

  • Discovering all existing evidence, information, research & literature
  • Systematically assessing this evidence
  • Establishing sound evidence through research and evaluation where the evidence is unsatisfactory
  • Adopting a collaborative approach to research
  • Presenting & disseminating findings in an organized and systematic manner so as to influence the practices of others
