• Welcome to the Sustainable Living Space website!

The Sustainable Living Space group is calling for interest from the outer eastern community in relation to developing a sustainable living space.

Over the coming months we’ll be speaking to the community at a range of community forums, focus groups, workshops, community conservations and through surveys. We’ll be asking people what they think about the environment and living a sustainable life. We’ll also be asking them what they think about the idea of developing a space dedicated to sustainable living in the area.

Here you can keep up to date about the project, learn a bit about what environmental sustainability is, and find out how you can get involved in the project. We look forward to meeting you at one of our events very soon.
  • What is Environmental Sustainability?

Environmental Sustainability is the ability to maintain the qualities that are valued in the natural environment.

For example, most people want to maintain:
  • human life and our communities
  • clean water and air, a suitable climate
  • renewable resources such as water, timber, fish, solar energy
  • the functioning of society, despite non-renewable resource depletion
  • the quality of life for all people, the livability and beauty of the environment

Environmental sustainability programs include actions to reduce the use of physical resources, takes a ‘recycle everything /buy recycled’ approach, uses renewable rather than diminishing resources, involved the redesign of production processes and products to stop the production of toxic materials, to protect and restore natural habitats and environments valued for their livability or beauty.

  • Get Involved!

  • The Sustainable Living Space Project is investigating the opportunities to develop an environmental
resource centre in the outer eastern region.
As part of this process we are surveying residents from the outer eastern region to determine their level of interest and involvement in environmental issues
as well as what would help in becoming more sustainable.
