Brief report on the pilot study - Coledale reconciliation office.
This personal account, prepared by Bruce Reyburn, provides some
feedback regarding the pilot study for a local reconciliation group
office, at Coledale NSW, during 2006. The funding for basic offices
expenses (rent, phone, broadband, postage etc) was provided by way of a
NSW Reconciliation Council small grant. The report is in doc form.

KURADJI - SANDON POINT (Northern Suburbs of Wollongong, NSW)
Support for the Koori struggle at Kuradji-Sandon Point is a major
objective for NIRTG. With the next phase of 'development' being planned
under the NSW Department of Planning we have now (August 2006) lodged the NIRTG submission
"Healing our spirits at Kuradji-Sandon Point" (2Mb pdf)..
This submission has been framed in keeping with directives from our
Koori cultural partners and in keeping with the provisions of the draft
United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
The attachment to "Healing our Spirits at Sandon Point" include "Draft United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples" (152Kb Word doc) "Wollongong City Council Statement of Reconciliation" (481Kb pdf) and a copy of the NIRTG submission to the (2003) Sandon Point Commission of Inquiry "Reconciliation
and Cultural Partnership as key values and constraints in the broader
context of the Kuradji-Sandon Point Urban and Non Urban environment." (1 Mb pdf).
If the pdf files are too slow to download, contact nirtg@bigpond.net.au requesting a Word version.
ILLAWARRA TREATY EVENT 2006 - 3 June
The main outcome of the Illawarra Treaty Event held in
Wollongong 3 June 2006 was to call for a National Day of Treaty Action,
with a focal event in Canberra, on Mabo Day (3 June) 2007.
Discussions are now (August 2006) underway with others (NSW ANTaR, NSW
Greens) to decide how to progress this call into action.
