About Me
Resume Writing |
18th October 1993 TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN This is to certify that Neil Pollock has been known to me for the last six years at Marrickville Council, initially in my capacity as Department Head of Community Services, and in the last two years as Manager Corporate Review. During this time I have found Neil to be a friendly conscientious and very productive employee of Manickville Council. Neil has fulfilled a number of roles within Mamckville Council, primarily within the Library Services Department. As Automation Co-ordinator, Neil was a key member of the Library Department responsible for the effective computerisation of the Library. In March 1989 the position of Deputy Librarian became vacant and Neil was successful in being appointed to the position. As Deputy Librarian, Neil managed the day to day operations of the Library with a major emphasis on staff management. On numerous occasions Neil effectively fulfilled the role of Chief Librarian, representing the Library at Council meetings and official functions. In 1990 Council expanded its Library computer system by purchasing Waverley Council's outgoing NCR system. Neil was critical to the effective installation of this additional equipment throughout Council's Library network of Main Library and three Branch Libraries. In September 1991 Manickville Council restructured its organisation. In November 1991 Neil successfully applied for the newly created position of Manager Information Systems. This position is responsible for all of Council's Information Technology planning and development and reports to the Manager Corporate Review, who in turn reports to the General Manager. Neil's two years in this position has demonstrated, once again, his capacity for hard work, his organisational ability and his knowledge of Information technology and its future. In eariy 1992 Council embarked on a program to replace its computer systems. Neil has co-ordinated the development of an Information Technology Strategy, vendor demonstrations, the preparation of tenders for Library and Local Government systems, the selection of best-fit solutions, and the negotiation of contracts. In addition Neil has had day to day responsibility for managing Council's Wang mainframe system with two staff reporting to him directly. Neil has expressed to me his desire to seek the position of Library Manager at the Australia Film, Television and Radio School. It is with regret that I provide this reference as Neil is a valuable member of Marrickville Council and would be sorely missed. For any further information.....
