6 October 1995 TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN Neil Pollock has been employed by the Australia Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS) in the position of Library Manager for the Jerzy Toeplitz Library, since December 1993 while the permanent Library Manager is on leave. Although Neil's background was not in film and broadcasting, during his time at the School, he has demonstrated an outstanding ability and enthusiasm in this area, and has proved to be a competent and visionary manager for the AFTRS library. He has not only maintained the library's fine reputation as a specialist library in this field, but has developed it further, both within the School and the industry. Neil's effectiveness is supported by highly developed people and resource management skills specialising in library management, and extensive information technology experience. In the short time that Neil has been with the AFTRS, highlights of his achievements have included: development of a strategy for the replacement of the automated library system; upgrading of the library's PC equipment and implementation of complementary staff training programs; introduction of CD-ROM system network; publication of the bi-monthly Film & Broadcasting Technology Update both in print and on the internet; promotion of the library's services to the film and broadcasting industry, resulting in marked increase in access by external users and closer collaboration with other key providers to improve information services to those industries. Neil is highly respected by his colleagues and staff for both his professional and personal qualities.
