John & Cheryl Lowry are excellent Tango teachers, based in Brisbane. They were teaching under the banner of Tango Abrazo but are now working independently under the new name The Tango Lesson. Their aim is to build a community of Tango dancers in Brisbane that is focussed on ENJOYING the dance and the music and developing musicality without getting obsessed with Tango acrobatics. Contact John or Cheryl on  (07) 3848 6633 or 0404 842 104 or  cheryl@lowry.com.au .

THIS IS TANGO...................

Tango is a body language. Communicate with your body. Listen with your body. Listen to the music with your heart. For the man it is important to be aware of your surroundings and other dancers. Concentrate on the music, so that it fills your mind.  This will allow you to interpret the music. For the lady it is important to submit to your body and the communication you are feeling. (but it's not submissive) After taking each step wait on your balance for the next signal. For both, it is important to step with the music at the same time. The signal comes first, then the step. Listen carefully to what the music is doing. Gradually the dance is distilled into pure pleasure. Be gentle , listen to the woman's body, her breathing, the beating of her heart. Lose yourself into the dancing.

Ross and Sandra run a Tango lesson from 7:30pm Wednesday nights (except first Wednesday of the month) at East Brisbane State School, Cnr Wellington & Stanley Sts, East Brisbane (entrance via Wellington St). Phone Ross & Sandra 0418 697 543
