 28/04/07 V's BMG  7-1 Win

The u/9's played BMG on Saturday in the rain and the kids did really well. All the players did really well. Even Riley did a few good hits and ran up and down the field. Erica , Chloe, Shannon and Rachel all scored goals. Our new girl Chloe Williams has fitted really well into the team and we welcome her to the club. Shannon was named player of the match for her non stop running and endless energy. Louisa and Emily came very close to scoring their first goal. Maybe next week girls. Thanks to Chloe's mum and Erica's dad for standing in  while John and Carolyn were away.

 28/04/07 V's Panthers  8-0 Loss

Raiders came up against a very well drilled Panther team. A bit of a misunderstanding at the beginning saw Renay having to play goalie instead of Courtney and it took a little bit of time for Renay to settle in. Once she did she kicked the ball really well and saved some goals. All the girls tried really hard especially Jess who ran out really well on the corners and unfortunately was hit in the face by a ball which bounced off a Panther stick. She is a trouper and was ok. Emma and Brooke and Taylor played well and some good short passes have begun to appear in our team. Hopefully everyone can come to training this week as the holidays are now over. We play Emu Plains next week and we look forward to a more even battle.

19/05/07  V's Panthers  0-0 Draw

A hard game saw the girls working a lot from one end to the other, great defence from Rachael and Emily kept the opposition scoreless. Strong games from Ashley and Julia and Jacqueline always trying to break Panthers defence. The game was without penalty corners until the last 5 minutes and then they went to the opposition, but the girls held out well and Meegan in goals was faultless.
Thanks for helping out to both Julia and Tory who played very strong and slot into the team easily.

28/04/07  V's Misfits 2-1 Loss

Raiders started out very well and dominated Misfits who were without their superstar Goalie. This saw some great build up play and led Michelle to score after 8 minutes and we were looking to go on further.
Unfortunately old age and treachery and few umpiring decisions saw Misfits to the break 2-1 up. Never underestimate these ladies girls, they might not be as quick as they used to be, but their hockey heads still work exceptionally well.
The 2nd half saw Raiders defending very well and just not able to convert on our penalty corners, and Misfits with their noses in front did enough to hang on for a good lesson for all our young ones.

Thanks to Carly and Julia for helping out, and good to see Kate at the game and on the road to recovery.

14/04/07  Vs Panthers 2-1 Win

The first half saw Raiders play a good passing game with Tegan, Jackie and Ashley working the ball into the circle, however we need to learn to take our shots early and make the most of those opportunities.

Good defending by Meegan, Rachael and Emily keep the opposition guessing.

The 31st minute saw a penalty corner awarded to Raiders and with a deft deflection by Kathleen we went to the break 1-0 up.

In the 18th minute of the second half Panthers were attacking well and after 3 successive penalty corners with the SAME play( a lay off ) took us to 1 all. We had another penalty corner in the 31st minute which was well hit by Tegan to take the final score to 2-1 Raiders way.

Thanks to Zoie Close and Carly McFarlane for helping out. (even if Zoie was feeling a little rusty.)

31/3/07  V's Emu Plains   4-0 win.

A warm welcome back to the season saw Junior Coach Jessica Sullivan take on the task of molding a combination of old and new players into the up and coming 1ST Reserves team.

A good start saw the ladies building in confidence as the game progressed and in the 19TH minute saw a build up into the circle by Elise Sullivan and a pass to Kathleen Corless who put the ball away convincingly. This saw the team to the break at 1 nil up and in good stead to go on.

The second half was followed by some good play, working the ball into the circle and in the 12TH minute we were rewarded with a penalty stroke. This was taken by Elise Sullivan and she was well up to the task. 2 nil up. The 22Nd  minute saw Melinda Kristaly work a great passing movement to a well-positioned Kathleen on the post taking the score to 3 nil.

Raiders were still not finished though and were unlucky not to convert again in the 24TH minute, but we had to wait until the 34TH minute which saw the ball played from ½ way by Elise to Ashley Welsh who layed the ball off for Kathleen to bag her hat trick for the day.

Final score 4 nil.

All the girls played well and will get even stronger as the season progresses.

Thanks to Mel and Ashley for helping out.

3rd Grade
RAIDERS  3rd Grade         MATCH REPORT

12/05/07  V's Blaxland   6-1 win.

On a beautiful evening our 3rd grade Team did extra well in defeating Blaxland 6 -1. The win was more exciting because in the Team we have from our Under 13 team four youngsters. Jessica Sainsbury, Emma Robinson, Courtney Vreeken and Nicola Petricevic. The kids were astounding. Jan felt rather useless watching young Emma cut out pass after pass from the opposition. Emma Jessica and Nicola are in the Under 13 Rep team and have been told by Jan "they had better play like that when they go away to Tamworth in July" now that they have shown how well and strong they can play.
Ami Marks and Lyn Maria from Rebels helped out and Ami put a Penalty Stroke away which was the winning goal for the Team. The club is so impressed with the young Under 13's that they are to be invited back again although Courtney will be a full time 3rd div player as the Club did not realise she is in Seniors next year. Well done "Team".
