HOW
DO I GET THE TIME

Business Computing Tips

Why don't we try every new thing that comes along to improve our business.
After all, it is one of the most important things in our lives. It helps feed
our families, for many of us it's who we are. So we want the business to
succeed. There are three reasons we don't use new things: time, money and a
reluctance to get caught out.
So what can we do with our current resources, little extra money, no risk
and as little time as possible.
That's what this newsletter is all about.
Here's the first example of just what you can do.
Open up your address book. Just about everyone has a list of people as long
as their arm. Friends, family, people we met on holiday.
Why not tell them what you do?
Send them a card. Put a picture or cartoon on one side, and a message on
the other. "Sorry I haven't said hi, I've been busy trying to break into
web page design. You know I can do a four page web page for only $180, you'd
think they would be knocking down my door. Can you think of anyone that would
want a web page? Let them know I can do a special deal for them if they say
you sent them. And I pay commission in chocolate or biscuits. Drop me a line
some time and let me know if I can ever do anything for you. Karen."
Keep it short and sweet. Most large stationery and computer stores have
cards that can go through your printer. They even come with envelopes. Whack
those through the printer as well. That way, once you have put the name and
address into your database once, you can send the whole lot a card whenever
you think of a new joke, and a way they can help. And remember if they do help
you out, or you can help them, send another card. It's $1. And it works.
People love an honest thank you and a helping hand.
CHEAP HINT 1
If you are on e-mail, send a cheery 'hi there' to the whole lot. It takes
about 5 minutes to type up a hallo and send it out. Remember though to only
put 10 people at a time into your TO section. It goes faster, with less errors
and is easier to read at the other end.
If your mailer has a BCC function, use that rather than putting all the
names in the TO section. This means that the others don't have to scroll
through umpteen names before they get to your message.

Please feel free to pass it on to your friends, just let them know I wrote
it.
