Business Computing Tips

PowerPoint allows you to present information in a more exciting way. You can make words speed across the screen, add sound and animation very easily.

What makes it different from word is the ability to place things exactly where you want them on the page and have them stay there. In order for this to work though, you can not just type on to the page, you need to place text into a text box first. Then type and format as necessary.

When you have filled one slide, go to INSERT then NEW SLIDE to add another 'slide' or page.

The special effects are added by clicking on SLIDESHOW, then CUSTOM ANIMATION. Click on the things you want to animate. Then on the tab Order and Timing. This gives you the order that things come on to the screen. Anything you haven't ticked will appear on the page straight away. Then in order. You can change the order by clicking on it in the lower box and hitting the down or up arrows.

Then click on the Effects tab. This gives you several drop down boxes. To chose an option, hit the down arrow for that box and scroll up and down, then click on your choice. Then hit OK

To view your Slideshow, go to SLIDESHOW then VIEW SLIDESHOW. A click of the mouse will bring you on to the next page.

You can even save it to the web by going to FILE then SAVE AS.
