This is an outline of an hour speech I have given for a lunchtime group.
Money is tight in business with budget cuts everywhere but anyone that doesn't bring in the customers goes out of business all together. There are three main areas to utilise; the Internet, current customers, and friends and colleagues.
The Internet Ð Your web page - FAQ, e-orders, larger presence. Ð E-mail - Signature, fax cover page, fast turn around, virtual flowers Ð News groups/IRC - network, consult experts, increase customers.
Current Customers Ð A lot cheaper to keep them than get new ones Ð Keep in touch - Birthday club, frequent flyers Ð Synergy - grow your list, direct mail. Ð Up-sell and cross sell Ð Look for solutions - don’t send them to your competitors Ð Follow up - keep a box Ð Referrals and testimonials
Friends and Colleagues Ð Be sure to tell them what business you are in Ð Be proud of new things you do Ð Contra deals, dinner and a movie Ð Ask your suppliers for referrals Ð Business cards. A POSSIBLE E-MAIL AND FAX SIGNATURE. For more information on how to succeed in small business without spending a great deal, visit http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/kfainges/ktips.htm
