Our dogs

Our dogs are first and foremost our buddies—but all of them also work.  Bruce has been Obedience and Agility trialling and loves to go out and run courses.  Laydee, Texan George and Frankie are all bred and work as sheepdogs.  As well as being very useful round our small farm, Texan, George and Laydee are also seen on the trial ground at three sheep and yard trials in Western Australia.  Frankie might even join them there in a year or two when he grows up.

Bruce

Meeting Bruce was the start of our love affair with Border Collies.  Originally a rescue he has grown into one of the nicest dogs anyone could wish for.  He loves chasing a ball and is also very persuasive when visitors come round.  Fast and fearless, he loves agility and is just starting to work sheep too

Laydee

Born in 1998, Laydee is a very classy sheepdog indeed having won trials at both Novice and Improver levels.   She penned the sheep for Jean at Mayanup and again at Ballidu in 2007 and still has a season or two ahead of her.

RIP Jimmy

Jimmy lost his lifelong relentless battle with nature at the age of 13 in 2006.  Our meeter and greeter at home, and a therapy dog with Animal Companions; our little dog with the big heart and the huge personality brought a lot of pleasure to a lot of people and we miss him very badly.

Tex loves nothing more than jumping into the trough after working sheep, except maybe doing the work itself.  We only realised he was a sheepdog after we rescued him—so then there was no choice but to get a farm with sheep for him to play with.  See Tex working sheep at the age of three.   We also filmed him casting and doing a short exercise a year later.

Jean bought Frankie at the start of 2007, then aged six weeks.  Still to go on the trial ground, at a year old he is working sheep very nicely and is a great pup to have around because he loves everybody he meets.

Frankie

Jean bought George as a trained sheepdog at the end of 2007—a dog she has loved and wanted since 2004.  He has settled in very well with the others and is working well.  She is looking forward to trialling him in the 2008 season.
