SHEEPDOGS AND TRIALLING LINKS West Australian Working Sheepdog Association—everything you need to know about three sheep and yard dog trialling in WA.  See also The Australian Sheepdog Workers Association site, the International Sheepdog Society and the Working Kelpie Council of Australia.  Another favourite of mine is Nan Lloyd’s excellent site on sheepdog training in Western Australia

Web links— about dogs

There are so many great sites out there it is hard to choose, so we have concentrated on those relating to dogs and cats or to our local area.

AGILITY LINKS

Agility in WA is run by the Canine Association of Western Australia.  Check out The Agility Club of Western Australia and for some great agility photos go to The Bourne Archives or Tim Abidin’s agility photo siteClean Run is an excellent Agility magazine.

DOG TRAINING AND BEHAVIOUR

K9 Events is a comprehensive guide and reference to positive dog training in Australia.  We also like Suzanne Clothier’s site which includes several informative articles.  A Dog’s Life also provides a lot of useful information on dog training, care and safety.

DOG TRAINERS

Need a good dog trainer?  Both the APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) and the Delta Society provide lists of accredited positive dog trainers.  There are also a number of discussion boards—in particular we like Dog Talk Chat, OzObedience Trialling and Agility Australia

MORE POSITIVE DOG TRAINING

Check out Pat Miller’s site—she has a wealth of experience of positive training.  Karen Pryor is one of the world’s leading clicker trainers and has a well laid out site too.  Turid Rugaas has a lot of useful information on dog body language and calming signals.

ABOUT DOG ADOPTION

Sue Sternberg is one of the world’s leading authorities on pet adoption—check out her site for a lot of information on dog assessment.  See also the RSPCA site.
