Border collie rescue

After we got Bruce and Texan, we got involved in Border Collie Rescue for Western Australia.  Since we started in 2005 more than 30 border collies and BC cross bred dogs have come to us for rehoming.  Border Collies are great dogs but they do need a lot of exercise—not only for their bodies but also for their minds and too many people realise too late that they are not suited to small back yards with little to stimulate them.  On these pages we show the dogs we have that are available for adoption and the histories of some of those we are proud to have helped give a second chance to.

When we take on a rescue—we ensure they are health checked, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and heartworm and flea treated before they are rehomed.  We do seek to match owners with the right dog and where a dog shows behavioural problems we will seek to rehabilitate it before it gets rehomed.  New owners have come from a variety of backgrounds and in most cases they and the dogs have formed strong bonds.  Where it has not worked out we will take the dog back and try again.

Before taking on a dog you need to research the breed and also be sure that your new dog will get on, not only with you, but with all other members of your household, including your cats.  We seek to recover our expenses in getting the dogs vet treated as necessary which is often at a subsidised cost due to the generosity of our local veterinary practitioners.  Typically a rescue dog will cost from between $200 to $300 once it has been vaccinated and desexed.
