Ayurveda - ShirodharaAyurveda is a holistic and integral medical system about 6000 years old that treats human beings as a whole - a combination of body, mind and soul. It is a Preventative Medicine system that focus food as medicine. According to Ayurveda, every individual is very unique and special and there are three constitutions - Vata (air), Pitta (fire) and Kapha (water). By doing things to suit your body and personality type (doshas), it is believed you can improve your health and wellbeing which help in living stress free. Consultation involves questionnaire about individual health and lifestyle followed by a pulse diagnosis to ascertain the balance of individual doshas before dietary recommendations are made, with the main emphasis on variety of meals with appropriate combination of six tastes - sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter and astringent. A person with a balanced constitution and condition to digest the correct amount of food, maintain proper elimination and the system and organs functioning normally is said to have a happy state of mind. Shirodhara is a classical Ayurvedic treatment in which warm oil is poured in a continuous stream across the forehead. A Marma point scalp and neck massage follows. Its therapeutic effects must be experienced to fully understand and benefit from this treatment. "One who applies oil on his head regularly does not suffer from headache, baldness, greying of hair, nor does his hair fall. Strength of his head and forehead is especially enhanced; his hair becomes black, long and deep-rooted, his sense organs work properly; the skin of his face becomes brightened; applying oil on the head produces sound sleep and happiness." Ayurvedic Physician Charaka, in the first text on Ayurveda, written over 2,000 years ago. Learn the art and experience the blissfulness of Shirodhara-Ayurvedic treatment in a day.
