ICCON Technology™ is a revolutionary system of pattern design for the garment manufacturing industry which can deliver a perfectly fitting garment sample first time, every time. It was developed as a result of a research and development program conducted in Australia and reflects international best practice garment engineering technology.

ICCON Technology™ is a mathematically based pattern drafting system, which is unique in its accuracy and versatility. It is directly linked to three dimensional body characteristics which can be expressed via a variety of body measurements and proportional ratios. The system was developed to support emerging mass customisation technologies and has the potential to be converted into electronic software. An expert system utilising ICCON TechnologyTM would minimise operator training and increase output accuracy. Automation of the mass customisation process in this way would make it a viable commercial proposition with global potential.

The three main components of this technology are:

• Pattern Block Construction
• Standard Figure Block Construction
• Non-Standard Figure Block Construction
• Block Based Pattern Development
• Three dimensional Construction Based Grading
The block and pattern construction know-how contained in each of these components can be applied manually or with the use of existing PDS computer technology (Pattern Design System), eg. Gerber, Lectra, PAD. ICCON Technology™ complements these CAD systems, but does not replace them. In most cases it significantly increases their effectiveness.

How do we know it works?

ICCON Technology™ Standard Figure Block Construction has already been implemented in the Australian clothing industry via Industry Implementation Programs, where it had proved that it can deliver substantial financial benefits. Current users include leading Australian fashion brands and product development organisations. Over 200 of Australia’s leading senior patternmakers and apparel industry technicians have been trained in the fundamentals of this technology through specialised courses conducted at the Kangan Batman Institute, Victoria.
