My Kitching Family

The Kitchings are an old Yorkshire Family, whose name was originally spelt Kitchin. First evidence of the Kitching family is found in the north of England in the 13th century, (for more information check out the Kitching Name Meaning).

Current research identifies our line of the Bain family as originating in Leeds in the West Riding of Yorkshire the early 1700s. The family has a long line of residence in Leeds and the surrounding areas before dispersing during the mid 1850s, with a number of members of the family crossed the Scotland/England border regularly, and despite the excellent record keeping of the Scots we have been unable to identify records detailed records on the fate of the family in Scotland.

The earliest known ancestor of our Kitching family is Samuel Kitching. Very little is known of the family before the Samuel's grandson Matthew Kitchin.
