KGC was founded in 1899 and 1999 was the centenary. Many activities were held in all sections of the club from golf to tennis and cards - the men bowlers had their celebration on 25 March 1999. An all day bowls event was organised with two lots of triples players from each of the four clubs they currently played against (Killara BC, Pymble GC, Elanora CC and The Australian Club). These teams were matched against KGC for the all day event. Lunch, drinks and trophies were all provided by KGC. It was a hugely successful and unusual day in that after the presentation of trophies by the then President F.A. (Frank) Ainscough, all 48 players received a bottle of whisky by the generosity of one member, R. A. (Arthur) Salenger - happily Arthur's team won the major event to receive the main trophy. It was one of those beautiful Autumn days they can have in Sydney and everybody went home as a winner.

The women also had their celebration with a gala day on Wednesday 8 September 1999. Matches were played against the four clubs with whom they usually compete, Elanora, Manly, Pymble GC and Royal Sydney. The same as the men, the club provided a barbecue lunch and trophies. |
