About Our Breeds
Tonkinese:
For
many years it was believed that when pair of
Tonkinese were bred together, the litter frequently
contained ‘Siamese’ and ‘Burmese’ kittens, as well as
the mink variation, which is what was considered to be
the only ‘real’ Tonkinese. We now know that these are
just coat colour density variations. All Tonkinese are a
darker hue on face, tail and legs and may be produced in
a high contrast (pointed), low contrast (solid) or
medium (mink) body tone in many colours. Each variety
shares the same distinctive Tonkinese ‘look’.
Tonkinese cats make
wonderful healthy family pets - especially the boys who
usually have extremely affectionate, lovable natures.
They are intelligent, inquisitive cats that enjoy
helping (or hindering), sharing your house and bed, or
viewing the world from a vantage point on your
shoulder. They are however, very people oriented,
sociable animals, which do not like to be left alone for
long periods of time.
Orientals:
A full colour version
of the Siamese breed, Orientals are equally intelligent
and affectionate, but are generally gentler and quieter
than their pointed cousins. They often choose one
special person, child or adult, to whom they give their
undying loyalty and devotion while remaining on
friendly, but not overly familiar terms with other
family members. They may disappear under the bed when
visitors arrive, but are always there to greet you
lovingly after a hard day at work. The silver tabbies
are stunning elegant creatures with green eyes and a
spotted, striped or classical pattern that contrasts
beautifully with their pale silver background.
