In this picture, two Matt and Steve are tentatively engaged in assaulting a wooden fort at the Armidale 1998 Easter Gathering.

Another picture from Armidale 1998. This is a battle fought on a weir over a creek. Matt can be seen in the right mid-ground, watching from behind the lines.

In the foreground Matt attacks Heath (out of shot) whilst Duncan strikes at Chris' leg (right middle distance). In the left middle distance, we can see Darren 'dead' and watching the remainder of the battle on a training day circa 1998.

These photographs where taken at varying times in the past, quite often before the editor joined, although not always. As such there is no rhyme nor reason to them.

I have tried to give an explanation as to what is happening but that is not always possible.

This picture shows a feast in Melbourne some of Fire and Steel attended during Conference 1997. If you can't quite tell, it's two roast chickens jousting atop two roast pigs.
