Newcastle Traditional Archery Day - Fire and Steel |
||||
| On Sunday the 7th Day of
August 2005, beginning at 10am, The Hunter Valley Traditional Archers and
Fire and Steel Viking Age Re-Enactment Society will be holding a
Traditional Archery day at Tarro, near Newcastle, NSW.
The event is open to all pre-18th Century historical re-enactment groups that use the bow. This does not necessarily mean that it need be a primary weapon on the battlefield or during your general re-enactment, but was used in some form. This includes as a theoretical proposal (a la Neade's Double Armed Man). If you are not sure that you fit into this category you are welcome to email us and discuss your proposal. This is a "Linen and Wool" event, meaning that we expect people to turn up dressed, and outfitted (bows includes) appropriately for your chosen time and place. You don't need to be perfect, but we do expect a reasonable standard of dress and reserve the right to refuse entry to those that fall too far outside this (not unreasonable) request. You are also invited to bring your period style standard or banner to raise on the day. The exceptions to this rule will be the HVTA themselves. |

Cans of soft drink will be available for $1 on the day, but you are welcome to bring your own food or drink on the day, but we do insist that those who will be loosing arrows on the day not partake of alcohol or any other mind altering drugs. There are no prizes for this event (unless someone wants to donate some), rather the event is for the enjoyment of archery. The use of aluminium arrows, compound bows or sights or any of that sort of rubbish is not permitted during this event. The same of broadheads etc. Field, target and some bodkin points will be permitted only on the range. Traders are very welcome and there is no charge to sell at this event.
