February saw us begin our major project of the year
Matilda the Federation Miss
With the bicentenary of Federation in Australia approaching on Jan 1st 2001 Chris Fields designed
Matilda for us. She is dressed in carefully researched clothing of that era for a middle class lady.
Matilda's detailed underwear comprises of: lace edged knickers and camisole, boned and laced corset, pin tucked chemise,
lace edged petticoat and seamed stockings.
Her outer clothing
is 6 panel skirt, long sleeved blouse, cumberbund around her waist, short jacket that sits on her trim waist, and hand made lace-up shoes with small heels.
She wears a small brooch at the front of high buttoned blouse and her mohair hair
is shaped into a bun and tucked into a feathered hat. She carries a knitted and beaded handbag over one arm that you can
tuck a tiny hankerchief into.
Our September - November project is 'Molly' a little colonial girl.
