650-XSories is endeavouring to eliminate the design flaws (yes, there are a couple) that the XS650 has. We are currently developing a motor that has it's crank rephased to 90°. This was developed as a result of a theory first proposed by the late Phil Irving (designer of the Vincent V-twin engine) and will reduce vibration by 43.5%. Both Yamaha (TRX) and Triumph (California) have produced verticle twin engines using this radical theory.

Probe XS650-90 Ignition System

Newly developed ignition systems for the 90° and 83° rephased motors have come onto the market from Probe Engineering in the US and 650-XSories is the sole agent for these here in Australia. These ignition systems have a two-way adjustable advance curve and can be statically timed and use the latest surface mount technology hall effect sensors. Contact us for more information.

A permanent-magnet alternator to eliminate those troublesome brushes!

A hydraulic clutch, and a belt-driven cam just because I wanted to!

Our test-bike also has a belt final-drive to eliminate that messy chain. Only the best Gates Polychain GT belt and sprockets used in this conversion which includes a modified swing arm for rear sprocket clearance. Only available in 20 front and 40 rear at present to allow the use of a standard "off the shelf" length belt for easy availability.

And future plans include a dry clutch for that racy look and to keep the oil free of clutch dust.

When these have been tried and proven, they will be added to our catalogue.

650-XSories' prices will only increase when manufacturers or the post office increase theirs. Also, one must allow for fluctuating exchange rates, but this can go either way.

Other Projects

I am a dedicated XS650 lover and owner and here are a couple of other projects I have ongoing. Firstly my Café Racer which was originally built by Keith my late father and the Chopper I have decided to now complete as a Trike.
