Daniel's Astronomy Site
I do my imaging in suburban
Sydney with a Meade 8" LX200R, DSI Pro II, Orion Starshoot Pro and an Orion
ED80.
Orion Starshoot Pro Images
M17 Swan Nebula
Taken with the ED80 - 5 RAW subs
at 300 seconds each.

Reduced Scale
Original Scale
M8 Lagoon Nebula
Taken with the ED80 - 5 RAW subs
at 300 sec each.

Reduced Scale
Original Scale
Processed in CCDStack with darks
and some (not so good) flats. I've included reduced and full scale versions.
What's Good
It's cooled and the image
scale is enormous.
What's Not So Good
1. There are some funny looking
artefacts (streaky looking blue things) in the full scale image. I'm also
seeing some banding (looks like tyre tracks) effects in the darks (and the RAW
lights). After some experimentation I think the issue is with the power
supply. Fortunately I have a second one that doesn't seem to exhibit the same
issue
2. The image size is so large is
takes forever to focus and configure the shot.
3. I wish you could tell what the
temp of the TEC was
4. The files are enormous. I have
a Dual Core laptop with 2GB of RAM and processing these files is slooooow.
All other things considered - its
a great new camera and I'm looking forward to doing more with it.
