the Monocolour issues of 1912-1915
The stamp shown above was a recent purchase of mine from Charles Leski Auctions, Melbourne. It is the one shilling yellow value with reversed watermark. It has previously been unrecorded, and is not listed by Stanley Gibbons. Other values from this same issue exist with reversed watermark, most notably, the two and six pence value in red analine shade. This shade only exists with reversed watermark.
This block of four is of the 6d value, also with watermark reversed. It was auctioned in the Colonel Harrie Evans collection of New guinea and Papua, 6th October 2001( Auction 91). It realised $A420.
