This web site has been created by ArtPhoto Rene Thalmann as part of a web design project at the North Coast Institute of TAFE in NSW/Australia.

About

I was born in Switzerland 1955. My first professional direction was Architecture. My passion for Photography started to take professional shape during my many years of traveling the world. Early Slideshows where popular highlights with family, friends and larger public audiences. I re-settled 1983 in the Philippines where I met my wife Julie. Besides of building and operating a beautiful Resort (Sundance Resort Boracay), I also established my own highly successful Postcard Photography Business, which eventually was turned over to the market leader National Bookstore 1987 upon return to split seasons ( Switzerland / Philippines). My postcards became the bestselling in the Philippines while I also established an Office in Switzerland (ART, Atelier Rene Thalmann), working as an Architect and Photographer there.

We gained Australian residency 1991 and settled in Byron Bay, Australia 1993 after selling Sundance Resort in the Philippines. For 12 long years, building Houses and running Restaurants occupied our professional career. With the sale of our last Restaurant (Palms Restaurant, Hastings Point) in March 2005 the path to a return to Travel and Photography has been paved.

With travel photography in mind I do need some web skills, the very reason of my current studies.
