WRF20104 Certificate II in Floristry

Certificate II in Floristry has been designed to apply to those wishing to develop the skills and knowledge to work as a sales assistant and produce basic displays in a florist shop or studio. This course is your introduction into the floristry industry. This certificate equips you to create basic floristry designs and develop accountability, autonomy and skills in working with others in the florist industry.

Is this course for you?

This course is open to the general public, but particularly to entry level students interested in the floristry business. This certificate is particularly applicable to school based trainees, year 10 school leavers and people wishing to gain entry into the floristry business. There are no prerequisites.

What will you learn?

Certificate II in Floristry is expected to take two terms. Face-to-face classroom presentations are followed by work experience in the floristry industry and supported on the job application of skills.

WRF30104 Certificate III in Floristry - Traineeship

Certificate III in Floristry has been designed to develop the skills and knowledge of more experienced employees in the floristry industry. To do this work you will require extensive product knowledge and specialist skills in flower design. The Certificate III will require you to develop leadership and problem solving skills. This certificate equips you to create advanced floristry designs and take your place as a leader in the florist industry.

Is this course for you?

This course is open to the general public, but particularly to experienced employees in the floristry business. This certificate can follow on from immediately from Certificate II in Floristry. There are no prerequisites.

What will you learn?

A traineeship in Floristry consists of Certificate III in Floristry and is expected to take 2 years. The course includes intensive block training in the classroom followed by work experience in the floristry industry and supported on the job application of skills.

WRF40104 Certificate IV in Floristry

Certificate IV in Floristry has been designed to develop the skills and knowledge of more experienced employees in the floristry industry. You will develop business skills, front line management skills, and skills in advanced floristry design. This course applies to those who are owner / managers of a floristry outlet with responsibility for the managerial and financial operations of the small business.

Is this course for you?

This course is open to the general public, but particularly to experienced employees in the floristry business who want to open their own florist retail or wholesale outlet. This certificate can follow on from immediately from Certificate III in Floristry.

What will you learn?

Certificate IV in Floristry is expected to take 2 terms. Face-to-face classroom presentations are followed by work experience in the floristry industry and supported on the job application of skills. As participants gain experience in the floristry industry, more advanced floristry techniques will be addressed in the course. Business subjects will be presented in small groups. Participants will bring case studies from their current business or potential business to contextualise the subject matter. Most business subjects can be applied to Certificate IV in Small Business.

WRF30104 Certificate III in Floristry

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Certificate III in Floristry has been designed to develop the skills and knowledge of more experienced employees in the floristry industry. To do this work you will require extensive product knowledge and specialist skills in flower design. The Certificate III will require you to have leadership and problem solving skills. This certificate equips you to create advanced floristry designs and take your place as a leader in the florist industry.

Is this course for you?

If you are an experienced employee in the floristry business, you can request recognition for your experience with Recognition of Prior Learning. You will need to demonstrate your skills in design in a variety of medium such as sympathy design, bridal design, and floral display for business window. You will need to demonstrate your underpinning knowledge of floral design, colour, modern design, business principles, and retail sales skills. A Certificate III in Floristry and is expected to take 1 year full time. The Recognition Process requires you to demonstrate skills to the government standards.

Career opportunities

This certificate can assist you to gain recognition for your experience. Participants can gain employment in the floristry industry or continue towards further education in the floristry sector with Certificate IV in Floristry. Also, persons could continue with their studies in the retail industry in general as many units of competency pertain to the Retail Training Package.

About Us

Debby Mayer is a floral designer with over 20 years of experience in 4 different countries. She owned a successful floristry business in Sydney for 6 years and designed for a great number of prestige hotels around Sydney. Debby has participated in international flower competitions and has qualifications in floristry and in Workplace Assessment and Training.

In 2004 Flowers to Impress became a partner with The Academy of Career Training to offer nationally recognised vocational educational training.

Course Award

Upon completion of each unit of competency, participants may choose to exit with a Statement of Attainment for competencies achieved. Upon successful completion of the course, the individual will be issued with a certificate.
