Antica famiglia di Benevento, alla quale e' tradizione sia appartenuto ROSCIMANNO ABBENANTE, Vescovo di detta citta', che al tempo di Re Ruggiero fu rimosso dalla dignita' episcopale avendo seguito la parte dell'antipapa Anacleto.

ANGELO, Vescovo di Alife, pure della stessa famiglia, prese partel al Consiglio provinciale di Bologna, nel 1565. Aggregata al patriziato di Benevento nel 1626 in persona di GIOVANNI ABBENANTE, ne godette fino all'epoca della abolizione dei Sedili. La famiglia e' iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobiliare Italiano col titolo di Patrizio di Benevento, in persona di CARLO, di GIOVANNI BATTISTA, e dei figli di lui.

This history of this Noble family commences around 1564.

Old family line of Benevento, the family linage is decended from ROSCIMANNO ABBENANTE, bishop of the city. It was at this time that King Ruggiero recinded the bishops title due to his connections with the Anacleto of the Antipapa.

Angleo Bishop of Alife, of the same family, had the same role for of the province of Bolognia. GIOVANNI ABBENANTE was one of the patriarchs of the united region of Benevento in 1629, the Abbenante family continued this role until the abolition of the Noble seats of Benevento.
