"Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few. All hearts go out to the fighter pilots, whose brilliant actions we see with our own eyes day after day...." : Winston Churchill, 20 August 1940.

Hurricane IId

Hurricane IId for the Hurricane slot

This a modified aircraft for EAW, the Hurricane IId. The Hurricane IId was armed with twin 40mm cannon, and was widely used as a "tank-buster" in the North African campaign. The 3D shape modifications (cannon pods, new forward air-scoop, aerial and the like) are by me, and the skin is by Jamie, based on a No.6 Squadron RAF machine, in the Western Desert in July 1942.

Whirlwind

Whirlwind for the P38H slot

This is a completely new aircraft for EAW, the Westland Whirlwind.  The RAF's first purpose-built twin-engined fighter, the Whirlwind entered service too late for the Battle of Britain, and was used as a cross-Channel raider from 1941-1943. The EAW Whirlwind comes with two alternative skins, a 1941-42 tan and green skin, and a 1943 sea-grey and green one.

Boomerang picture

Boomerang for the Spitfire I slot

This is a new aircraft for EAW, the CAC Booomerang.  The Boomerang was conceived as "panic fighter" in early 1942, when Australia was under threat of Japanese invasion, and fighter aircraft were in short supply. Produced entirely in Australia, the Boomerang saw extensive service in a ground-support role in 1943-45, in New Guinea and Bougainville. The aircraft modelled here is a No.5 Squadron machine, based on Bougainville in 1944.

Seafire picture

Supermarine Seafire Mk 47 for the Spitfire XIV slot

The final navalized Spitfire model, the Seafire Mk 47 first flew in April 1946. It served in an attack role in both Malaya and Korea. The Seafire 3D shape is based on Paulo's Spitfire Mk22, with a few changes, principally around the cockpit and the engine cowling, and now including a tail hook. The new skin is a combination of my earlier Seafire skin, and some excellent recent work by Fernando "Collision Man" Giorlando.

SeaFury picture

Hawker Sea Fury Mk 10 for the Tempest slot

The Sea Fury first flew in February 1945, and saw extensive action in Korea.

This is an improved Sea Fury skin package. The download has two different skin options, a Royal Navy (RN) skin and a Royal Australian Navy (RAN) skin. It comes with a new hangar screen as well as a tail hook and a new transparent shadow file.

Corsair picture

Vought F4U-4 Corsair for the P51D slot

The F4U Corsair was the first conversion for EAW of a shape from Microprose "Pacific Air War" ("PAW"), which I did in 1999. Since then the original 3D shape has had major revisions by Woolfman (transparent canopy and propellor), by -E (non-mirrored wings) and by me (ordnance hardpoints, transparent shadow file and tail hook), and comes with this superb USN skin by Jamie.

P80 picture

Lockheed P-80C Shooting Star for the P51D slot

This is a major re-working of the P-80 3D shape for EAW, which I released in July 2000. It is now a combined effort of several people.

The original P80 3D shape is by me (from the PAW P-39), with the transparent canopy and pilot added by Geo (who also fixed a problem polygon on the nose). Jeff "Salty" Salter did the skin, which is a representation of a USAAF 56th Fighter Group scheme for the P80A that was used in 1948.

P82 Twin Mustang picture

North American P-82B Twin Mustang for the P51D slot

This is a major re-working of the P51D 3D shape for EAW, to create the P-82 Twin Mustang, which I released in July 2001. The P-51 skin is by Airbuddha (a 361st FG ETO machine).  An alternative 3D shape, with a central radar pod used in Korea, is also included with this release.

The P-82 Twin Mustang was designed in 1944, as an ultra-long range escort fighter for both the European and Pacific theatres. It saw extensive service in Korea.
