Dear Ms Gallagher

Start with some information about yourself, who you are, where you live and why you feel strongly about issues concerning people who have a disability. If you have a disability let her know what it is, the challenges you face because of it and how you have overcome any of these challenges. If you are a parent or carer of a person who has a disability, talk about your stories as well as those of the person you support.

You could outline the services that you find most useful and those that you would like to see expanded as well any services you feel are lacking and would like to see implemented.

If you are especially committed to a particular issue, emphasise it. Explain in clear terms what you want acknowledged or addressed by the government and ask for a reply stating the action they will take in regard to it.

Ask for responses to specific questions, as well as for information about how the government will address the needs of those who have a disability in the budget, and in what ways they are honouring their pre-election promises.

Letters should be concise, try to keep it to one page. If you do require more space make sure you start a new sheet of paper rather than using both sides of one sheet.

We would be happy to assist you with your letter and, if you wish to type it, we can also help with access to a computer. It is acceptable for a letter to be either hand-written or typed. Be sure to keep a copy of your letter, if required we can photocopy it for you.

Yours Sincerely
