NationalNational Council on Intellectual Disability (NCID)The National Council on Intellectual Disability (NCID) is the national association representing people who have an intellectual disability and their families in Australia. It was established over 30 years ago by parents and friends to make the Australian community one in which people who have an intellectual disability are involved and accepted as equal participating members. People With Disabilities (PWD)People with Disability Australia Incorporated is a national peak disability rights and advocacy organisation. Its primary membership is made up of people who have a disability and organisations primarily constituted by people who have a disability. PWD also has a large associate membership of other individuals and organisations committed to the disability rights movement. Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA)Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA) is the peak organisation for women with all types of disabilities in Australia. It is a federating body of individuals and networks in each State and Territory of Australia and is made up of women who have a disability and associated organisations. WWDA addresses disability within a social model, which identifies the barriers and restrictions facing women who have a disability as the focus for reform. Australian Council of Social Services (ACOSS)The Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS) is the peak council of the community services and welfare sector. Established in 1956, ACOSS is the national voice for the needs of people affected by poverty and inequality. ACOSS’s vision is a fair, inclusive and sustainable Australia where all individuals and communities have the resources they need to participate in and benefit from social and economic life. |

ACTACT Disability Aged and Carers Advocacy Service (ADACAS)ADACAS is the A.C.T. Disability, Aged and Carer Advocacy Service - an independent advocacy organisation helping people who have a disability, older people and their carers. People With Disabilities ACT (PWD ACT)PWD works to provide people who have a disability in the ACT region with a voice of their own. We bring together people who have problems in accessing the community and work with the community, government and private sectors to remove unnecessary barriers. Mostly, we work with people to bring about positive change but as needed we lobby loudly and strongly in public forums to protect the rights of people who have a disability. The result is a better Canberra for all of us. Citizens Advice BureauThe Citizens Advice Bureau of the ACT is committed to providing access for all ACT residents to information and support, empowering them to make informed decisions about their life situation. They provide information, referral and support that is confidential, independent, impartial and current ACT Council of Social Services (ACTCOSS)The ACT Council of Social Service Inc (ACTCOSS) is the peak representative body for not-for-profit community organisations, and disadvantaged and low-income citizens of the Australian Capital Territory. Disability ACTThe role and responsibility of Disability ACT is to plan, develop strategic policy, allocate funding and provide and monitor services for people who have a disability in the ACT and the families who care for them. Department of Disability Housing and Community ServicesThe ACT Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services has responsibility for a wide range of human services functions in the ACT, including multicultural and community affairs, public and community housing services and policy, children, youth and family support services and policy, disability policy and services, therapy services, Child and Family Centres, the ACT Government Concessions Program, homelessness and community services. ACT Human Rights OfficeThe ACT Human Rights Office is a small, independent office which is headed by the ACT Human Rights and Discrimination Commissioner. Our job is to promote human rights in the ACT by administering the Discrimination Act 1991and the ACT Human Rights Act. We investigate and, if appropriate, try to resolve formal complaints, of discrimination, sexual harassment and racial vilification under the Act; we give information to people who inquire about their rights or responsibilities under the Act; and we provide education and information programs about a wide range of discrimination issues to the ACT community. Commonwealth Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaCSIA)The Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaCSIA) is responsible for social policies and support affecting Australian society and the living standards of Australian families. Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (HREOC)The Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission was established in 1986 by an act of the Federal Parliament. Their goal is to foster greater understanding and protection of human rights in Australia and to address the human rights concerns of a broad range of individuals and groups.
