Getting in Touch With the ACT Government

There are many ways you can get in touch with the ACT Government to get your opinions and complaints heard

Traditional Means: such as letters and telephone calls to Ministers or Members of the Legislative Assembly, or personal meetings with those concerned.

  • For advice on writing letters see our letter writing fact sheet available at our office in Pearce or call us and we can send one out to you. We are happy to provide any additional help you may need.
  • Telephone numbers for government agencies can be found in the front of the White Pages.
  • Personal meetings with Ministers or Department heads can sometimes be difficult to arrange but are worth pursuing if less personal contact is not successful in addressing your concerns.

Electronic Means: such as emails or access through the ACT government website

  • A considerable amount of communication is now made via electronic means such as email and feedback forms on websites. These are often the easiest way to access the ACT government if you have access to a computer
  • Emails to Ministers and Members of the ACT Legislative assembly can be sent using this formula for addresses: @act.gov.au

Example: This is the email address for Minister for Disability and Community Services, Katy Gallagher

    gallagher@act.gov.au

  • The ACT Government website also provides a feedback form which can be accessed from the following web address

    http://www.act.gov.au

Follow these steps to use the feedback form:

    5. Fill in the details of your comment. The space provided looks small but is actually able to contain a lot of information by scrolling down.
    6. If you would like to receive a response fill in the contact details at the bottom of the page. You can choose what form the response will take by providing either an email or postal address.
    7. Click on Continue at the bottom of the page.
    8. A reference number will be displayed on screen; it is best to keep this as a record, in case you need to make an enquiry about your comment.
